The Type-68B is essentially a stripped down version of theType-68A Directed Energy Rifle. It is popular as a sidearm or close quarters weapon, and has also become a mainstream weapon with Sangheili Special Operations teams. Like the Type-25 Directed Energy Pistol, the Type-68B has an alternate fire mode. At the cost of more battery power and overheating faster, it can fire a rapid four-bolt burst of plasma with each bolt dealing increased damage, especially to shielded targets.
