The MA6 Modular Combat Weapon System (MCWS) is the standard-issue assault rifle of the United Nations Defense Force, introduced in 2579. The MA6 is a bullpup, air-cooled, gas-operated infantry rifle in use with the UNSC. Designed to replace the venerable MA5 Series, the MA6 has become the service rifle of all branches of the UNSC after replacing its predecessors. Accurate, sturdy, and relatively lightweight, the MA6 is essentially the same weapon as the MA5D, though featuring modernized materials, design, and ammunition. Unlike the MA5 Series, however, the MA6 is meant to be highly modular, equipped with CES rails that can support various attachments, and a wide range of barrels, ammunition types, and other internals are available for mission parameters or preference. With this heavy-duty versatility, Misriah Armories does not intend the MA6 to require systematic model updates like the MA5 Series. Universally popular, the MA6 is the most commonly issued weapon within the UNSC in service, alongside the more specialized BR95 Battle Rifle. The MA6 is chambered for the 7.62x51mm NATO full power rifle cartridge, which gives it significant stopping power and range while being suitable for controlled, accurate automatic fire.
